Trish Spencer ~ PTA Council President, Grant
Writer: is an attorney enjoying this chapter of her life parenting,
substitute teaching, and volunteering. Many Alameda children know her as
Mrs. Spencer, since she has been a substitute teacher at every AUSD elementary
and middle school, and at Alameda High, where one of her daughters is a
senior.
Trish is President of Alameda PTA Council (overseeing all PTAs in AUSD)
and active in Peralta PTA. Under her leadership, PTA Council advocates for
quality education for all AUSD students, went to Sacramento, and all eligible
schools applied for Garden Grants (ACLC, ASTI, BASE, Island High, Woodstock
Child Development Center and all traditional schools).
She ran her first marathon last year. Her family hosted a French foreign-exchange
student. She was a Girl Scout Troop co-leader. She practiced business litigation
in Newport Beach [Juris Doctor, Western State Univ. College of Law; A.B.
degree, U.C. Berkeley (Sociology)].
When her children were in elementary school, Trish volunteered in the classroom
(Room Parent, Art Docent), in PTA (Walk & Roll to School Coordinator,
Woodstock Sister-School Rep., 25th Anniversary co-chair) and School Site
Council (Chair). She co-wrote Earhart Elementary’s CA Distinguished
School application, awarded 2004. Now that her youngest are in 7th grade
(they’re twins), she volunteers at Lincoln Middle (Walk to School
Day, Reflections). She is an Art Docent at Washington Elementary and an
AEF “Service to Our Children” award recipient.
